Arrive At Every Sighting Already Set Up
When the moment appears, you don’t want to be adjusting gear — you want to be shooting. The Filmsteady stays secured to your vehicle between sightings, so you keep your camera equipment supported and your workflow uninterrupted.
- Effortless between stops: keep it in place while you drive to the next sighting
- A steadier platform, right where you need it: reduce blur and vibration for cleaner shots and smoother video
- Fluid side-to-side and inside transitions: reposition quickly without breaking rhythm
- Purposefully lightweight: easy to handle, easy to live with on a long day in the field
- Secure, patented design: supported by a magnet and aluminium angle profile so it stays on the vehicle — not in your lap

Load Bearing Structure
The Filmsteady patented design combines the window channel engagement and magnetic base to form a rigid, triangulated load bearing structure that reduces vibration and motion, enabling stable imaging on any vehicle.
Please note, you need to provide your own video head or gimbal which attaches to the 1/4 screw on top of the Filmsteady.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, no problem. As long as the magnet is attached to the outside of the door and the aluminium angle is completely buried in the window channel, the Filmsteady will not shake lose no matter how bad the road gets (see the how to use video).
I was frustrated by the fact that on a game drive I constantly had to set up my photographic equipment each time I reached a sighting, only to take it down again when I drove away. There had to be an better way.
So in response I developed the Blur Banisher Beanbag, which solved the problem with a magnet and a clip across the inside door handle of the vehicle.
That was sufficient for photography, but there were still three major challenges when it came to shooting video.
- Hand holding a camera on top of a beanbag introduces subtle vibrations in the video footage.
- Panning is not very smooth or efficient on a beanbag.
- The beanbag stays on the vehicle, but the camera has to be taken down when driving away.
To deal with all these issues successfully, I designed the Blur Banisher Filmsteady vehicle rest.
FILMSTEADY
- Best for professional or serious hobbyist wildlife videographers
- Reduces vibration to a minimum for very steady video footage
- Works with a video head or gimbal
- Allows smooth panning and tracking of subjects.
- Blur free wildlife photography too.
- Fimsteady and camera equipment stays attached while driving
BEANBAG
- Best for wildlife photographers to reduce blur to a minimum, even in low light situations
- Video footage may have some vibration due to hand holding the camera on top of the bag
- Hand panning not as smooth as a video head or gimbal
- The beanbag stays attached while driving, but the camera equipment doesn't
You could also put the lens cap on while driving to be extra careful.
And you don't have to leave your camera up on the move as I do. The Filmsteady can be removed and set up again in seconds, so just take down the whole thing and put it back up at the next sighting.
You can also use a quick-release to take just the camera and lens down, leaving the Filmsteady itself up while driving.
