Frequently Asked Questions

DO I HAVE TO BRING MY OWN VIDEO HEAD OR GIMBAL TO PAN AND TILT?

No, the Blur Banisher Monopod has a tilt head built in and the magnetic articulating foot allows you to pan. All you need is your own camera and lens attached to the monopod using the included quick release base plate.

HOW HEAVY CAMERA AND LENS CAN THE BLUR BANISHER MONOPOD SUPPORT?
Up to 15 kg. But please note that the Monopod can't stand upright on its own, because of the articulating foot, so you need to support it as you film.
WHY WAS THE MONOPOD INVENTED?
I (Bruce Whittaker) am a wildlife photographer and videographer.

I sometimes go on game drives on the back of open sided safari vehicles to film and photograph, and found that the beanbags I own for stabalised footage didn't work effectively then.

I would often have to crouch down to use the beanbag and when the sighting was on the other side of the vehicle I would have no choice but to handhold the camera.

So I decided to design and build a solution for this myself and the Blur Banisher Monopod was born.

You can adjust the filming height for any situation and you can pan easily to wherever the wildlife sighting presents itself.

WHAT IF I ALREADY OWN A VIDEO HEAD OR GIMBAL?

No problem, all you do is connect that to the monopod using the 1/4 inch screw provided, lock the tilt head in place and then you are all set to use your video head or gimbal as normal.

CAN I TRAVEL WITH THE MONOPOD?

Yes, the monopod is made from aluminium, so it's reasonably light to travel with (1kg).

It disassembles into three sections with the longest being 594mm (23.38 inches), so it can fit into most suitcases for air travel purposes.

WHAT IF I WANT TO RENT, INSTEAD OF BUY?

You can rent the Blur Banisher Monopod on this website for the duration of your safari. Choose the rental option in the shop below, adjust the items in the bag to correspond with the number of days you would like to rent the Monopod for.

Provide the delivery address in South Africa of the safari company you are traveling with, and the Monopod will be delivered there for use when you arrive.

DO YOU SHIP INTERNATIONALLY?

No, international shipping can be very expensive, often costing more than the monopod itself, so only domestic South Africa delivery is available for orders below five units.

It makes more sense financially for you to get hold of the monopod when you arrive In South Africa.

International visitors to South Africa can provide a temporary accommodation, car rental, friends residence or safari company address for delivery.

HOW TO ATTACH OR REMOVE MY CAMERA FROM THE MONPOD QUICKLY?

The quick release base plate is key for this.

Simply turn the screw anticlockwise to open and then remove the camera. To attach, slide the base plate on the camera into the slot of the base plate on the monopod or video head, and turn clockwise to close.
